In this video, Nishti discusses the associations between picky eating, paediatric feeding disorder, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), and anorexia nervosa. She addresses the challenges and diagnostic errors in young children with eating disorders, covering nutritional management and behavioural strategies. The power of mindfulness in patient collaboration is also highlighted.

Nishti is an international registered dietitian and certified mindfulness teacher who has worked across both the NHS and the private sector since 2011. Her career started in the NHS where she worked with adults struggling with irritable bowel syndrome, obesity and type 2 diabetes.
She moved into paediatrics in 2013 and started out covering diabetes (type 1 and 2), the paediatric acute ward and paediatric clinics where she would see food allergy, preterm and tube fed babies.
Nishti has a deep passion for paediatric food allergy, in particular cow’s milk protein allergy and in recent years, mindfulness. She has won awards for her work in paediatric food allergy and for her work in diabetes.
Nishti is a consultant dietitian with Nuffield Hospitals and previously worked as the Lead Dietitian for an inpatient paediatric mental health hospital covering eating disorders and a psychiatric intensive care unit. She is the founder of Nishti’s Choice, an online consultancy platform whose ethos is to provide holistic health care to both children and parents.
