MALNUTRITION

Malnutrition is a state in which the deficiency of nutrients such as energy, protein, vitamins or minerals results in measurable adverse effects on body composition, function and clinical outcome.¹

People with chronic or acute conditions and older people may be at risk of malnutrition, and therefore more susceptible to disease, in turn making their nutritional status worse and impairing recovery.

Early identification and management are crucial to prevent complications associated with malnutrition.¹
