Helen McCarthy has worked as a dietitian, academic and researcher in the UK and Australia. She is a specialist in paediatric nutrition, having worked in hospital, school, and community settings. She has a particular interest in the identification, prevention, and treatment of malnutrition in all ages and was the lead investigator for the development of the internationally used Screening Tool for the Assessment of Malnutrition in Paediatrics (STAMP).
Helen has a passion for nutrition and dietetics, and empowering professionals with evidence-based nutrition education. Helen is a past Chair of the British Dietetics Association Education Board and a founding member of the NNEdPro Australia and New Zealand Network. Helen has been an invited speaker at numerous international conferences and professional development courses.

Rachel qualified from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2006 following a BSc (Hons) degree in Dietetics. She worked in adult dietetics for almost 5 years covering a variety of specialties mainly critical care and parenteral nutrition. For the last 12 years, Rachel has gained vast experience at two large tertiary children’s hospitals; Sheffield and Manchester. Rachel gained a specialist role at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital leading the Allergy and Gastroenterology services where she has worked for 10 years. Rachel is on the Education Committee at BSPGHAN where she aims to improve teaching for AHPs, and Associates and they have recently run a virtual BSPGHAN conference.
Rachel leads the Intestinal failure/Home Parenteral Nutrition service at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, and she is the dietitian on the BSPGHAN Intestinal Failure Nutrition working group where they are developing national guidelines. Rachel is the director of the business RW Dietetics, to provide support and advice for parents, families, and health professionals on nutrition and dietetics in paediatrics.
