Abstract:
In this video, expert speakers provide valuable insights into the dietary management of cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA). The video also highlights the role of plant-based hydrolysed rice formulas for the dietary management of CMPA and other conditions where an extensively hydrolysed formula might be indicated.

Rosan Meyer, PhD, RD, is a senior lecturer in paediatrics and the module leader for the Food Hypersensitivity Module that forms part of the MSc in Allergy at Imperial College London. She is also visiting Professor at KU Leuven, Belgium. Previously, Dr. Meyer served as a research dietitian, leading research on the impact of gastrointestinal food allergies on children and their families. In addition, she has a busy paediatric dietetic practice in London specialising in food allergy, feeding difficulties and faltering growth. She has published numerous articles on food allergy, feeding difficulties and is interested in the association between growth and food allergy. She is the chair of the European Section of the International Network for Diet and Allergy, secretary of the Allied Health and Primary Care Section of the European Association of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and a member of several EAACI task forces on food allergy. Dr. Meyer completed her degree in Dietetics in South Africa and received her MSc and PhD in Paediatric Nutrition at Imperial College London.
ALESSANDRO FIOCCHI, MD

Alessandro Fiocchi, MD, is the Director of Allergy at the Paediatric Hospital Bambino Gesù, Rome, Vatican City. Dr. Fiocchi is an expert in the field of food allergy and has dedicated his research and clinical work to the care of children with asthma and allergic diseases. He founded the Italian Research Foundation for Allergy and Asthma in Childhood (Allegria ONLUS) and serves as the chair of the Adverse Reactions to Foods Committee of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He is the author of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) Diagnosis and Rationale against Cow’s Milk Allergy (DRACMA) guidelines on cow’s milk protein allergy. Additionally, he inspired the GLAD-p guidelines on allergy prevention by probiotics (2015), prebiotics (2016) and Vitamin D (2017). Since 2014, Dr. Fiocchi has served as Editor-in-Chief of the WAO Journal.
DR YVAN VANDENPLAS, MD, PHD

Yvan Vandenplas, MD, PhD, is a Professor Emeritus and consultant at the University Hospital Brussels (UZ Brussel). He served as the Chair of Paediatrics and the Head of the Unit for Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, creating the Paediatric Hospital, KidZ Health Castle, at the University Hospital Brussels (UZ Brussel). Dr. Vandenplas has over 500 publications listed in Medline, many of which address infant nutrition. He is associate editor of the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and Nutrients. Dr. Vandenplas conducted his medical studies and training in paediatrics at the “Vrije Universiteit Brussel” (Free University of Brussels).
