Abstract:
This video focuses on the prevalence of malnutrition in older adults. Using tools like R-MAPP to screen for malnutrition in clinical practice is essential, as nearly half of hospitalised older adults are at risk. Malnutrition and sarcopenia can lead to longer hospital stays, higher readmission rates, and adverse health outcomes. Proper nutrition, including increased protein intake and the use of β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate (HMB), is crucial for improving muscle mass and preventing complications such as fractures and pressure ulcers.
Once you have watched this video, please remember to complete your self-reflective notes to contribute towards your continuing professional development. You will then be able to access your Certificate of Completion.
