Abstract:
This article emphasises the importance of early identification and management through a structured four-step approach: screening, assessment, treatment, and monitoring. It highlights the role of healthcare professionals in recognising risk factors, addressing gastrointestinal (GI) intolerance, and optimising nutritional interventions. Appropriate use of oral nutritional supplements, particularly peptide-based formulas for patients with malabsorption and GI dysfunction, can improve clinical outcomes, reduce complications, and lower healthcare costs.
