Abstract:
Discover the initiative by the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) aimed at establishing a global consensus on diagnostic criteria for malnutrition in adults. This collaborative effort, involving major global clinical nutrition societies, has resulted in a two-step diagnostic approach. The criteria include phenotypic factors like weight loss and low muscle mass, and aetiologic factors such as reduced food intake and inflammation.
The proposed scheme not only standardises malnutrition diagnosis but also guides intervention strategies.
