A GUT (BRAIN) FEELING ABOUT HMOS

A Satellite Symposium at the 51st ESPGHAN Annual Meeting

This podcast provides an overview of the gut microbiome and its interactions with the gut-brain axis (GBA) — a bidirectional signaling pathway between the gastrointestinal tract and the central nervous system. Prof Cryan discusses several animal models of stress and learning that suggest roles for the gut microbiome and human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) in immunity, behaviour, and cognition. Preliminary intervention studies in humans are also discussed.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Breastfeeding is best for babies and is recommended for as long as possible during infancy.
