PAEDIASURE PEPTIDE TUBE FEED
WHY HAS PAEDIASURE PEPTIDE BEEN RECOMMENDED TO MY CHILD AS A TUBE FEED?
If your child is struggling with symptoms of ‘intolerance’^ with other nutritional supplements, or they have a medical condition which means that their bodies can’t absorb the nutrients they need properly, their healthcare professional (e.g. GP or nurse) might recommend PaediaSure Peptide as a tube feed.
PaediaSure Peptide is designed for children who cannot get all of the energy and nutrients they need by mouth and who may be at risk of disease-related malnutrition. PaediaSure Peptide contains vitamins, energy and protein and has been designed for those who have gastrointestinal (GI) intolerance. The proteins in it are partially broken down which makes them easier for your child’s body to absorb.
If your child has regular symptoms, such as those outlined below, and is unable to eat safely, for example if they have difficulty swallowing, or are able to eat, but can’t eat enough to meet their nutritional needs, then their healthcare professional may recommend PaediaSure Peptide as a tube feed to help them get the nutrients they need.
^Intolerance symptoms can include reflux, diarrhoea and vomitting.

WHAT IS PAEDIASURE PEPTIDE?
PaediaSure Peptide is liquid nutrition that may be given to patients as a tube feed. It is for children who weigh between 8 kg and 30 kg or are aged between 1 and 10 years. It comes in a 500 ml ready-to-hang bottle and is nutritionally complete, which means it can be used as your child’s only source of nutrition, for example if they are unable to eat by mouth, or can be used as a supplement in addition to the food they eat.
What is a gastrointestinal disorder?
Gastrointestinal conditions affect the gut or digestive system. Our digestive system breaks down the food that we eat into nutrients that are absorbed by the body. These nutrients give children the energy they need to keep them healthy.1
Common symptoms of digestive disorders in children include:1
A feeling of needing to be sick or being sick
Diarrhoea
Stomach pain
Not feeling hungry
Finding it hard to poo or not pooing as often
